Taft Reserve

Taft Reserve’s 425 acres contain eight plus miles of horseback riding and hiking trails through woodland and meadow habitats. The area is noted for its abundance of spring wildflowers, owl, deer, wild turkey and coyote. The trails follow hilly terrain and are considered moderately strenuous.

William C. Kraner Nature Center

William C. Kraner Nature Center offers programs for children, families, and adults with live educational animals and collections of study skins, nests, and other natural materials useful as aids in learning about nature. This facility is managed by Ohio Nature Education (ONE). More information regarding ONE, including a calendar of events, visit

Franklin Township Community Park

11152 Flint Ridge Road, Newark, Ohio

Bring the kids out to the newly reconstructed play ground located in the back of the Franklin Twp. Community Center property. Enjoy a picnic under the shelter house or just spend some quit time with nature.
